I am a graduate of Lourdes College in Early Childhood Education with a pre K-3 focus. I have been teaching and working for the diocese for the past eight years. I will soon have my Masters degree in K-12 reading, also from Lourdes College.
I look forward to working with students and parents at St. Benedict School. I have created a handbook on the elements of reading that I hope to offer in a series of workshops to families of students in pre K-3 grade during the upcoming school years. I also look forward to watching your children grow closer to God in celebrating their First Reconciliation and Eucharist.
I'd like to share with you some of my beliefs and philosophy of being an educator. I feel it is important to look at each student as an individual who brings lots of life experiences into the classroom. I believe children learn in their own ways at their own pace and I strive to plan lessons accordingly to accommodate each student's learning abilities. I think it is necessary to have open communication with parents and other faculty members to learn and understand each student better. I feel that each child is a gift from God and is special in his or her own uniqueness. It is my job as an educator to take those gifts God has given each child and guide students into being the best learners they can be.
Here in this space, Emily Blodgett will make her announcements for parents and students.
This is where Emily Blodgett will inform parents (and remind students) about what that day's or week's homework is all about: What should be done before the next day or the next week (however she wants to inform), and what projects or studies there will be in the next few days.
This is where Emily Blodgett will write about long-range projects, studies, assignments, etc. perhaps way ahead in the future. It's a chance for her (and parents) to look far ahead if she wants to.
